Do A Pre-Tow Walkaround Every Time
A two-minute walkaround before you leave the driveway catches the small problems — a loose coupler, a burnt-out bulb — before they turn into a roadside surprise.
- Check trailer tire pressure and tread, not just the tow vehicle’s.
- Test turn signals, brake lights, and running lights on the trailer.
- Confirm the coupler is latched and the safety pin or clip is in place.
There are a lot of things coming together and the risk of big problems is high if something is off. My added items are safety clips on. Absolutely need a lock pin on latch. Then double check the tie down straps for what you’re hauling—for a boat especially at the rear to keep it moving forward and backward. I put an extra bow line to tie the bow to the trailer,
