Expectation: everything is packed, settled, and working exactly as planned.

Reality: the late-day fuel stop has other ideas. A quick look at tires, lights, cargo, and leaks gives tomorrow a cleaner start. A little patience and a quick “look at tires, lights, windows, and the ground beneath the car” usually restore order.

A quick walkaround at the fuel stop can catch little things before they turn into a bigger problem. Definitely worth the extra minute.
