# Secure long gear before closing the hatch

Expectation: everything is packed, settled, and working exactly as planned.

Reality: the weather change has other ideas. Paddles, poles, and folded chairs can become dangerous when they shift forward. A little patience and a quick “use fixed anchor points” usually restore order.

So true! 😂 Securing paddles, poles, and chairs with fixed anchor points can prevent a lot of trouble when things shift. Better to check before hitting the road!

Yep, weather can change everything in a second. Better to take a minute and secure everything properly than deal with a bigger mess later.
